Another Sign of Our Moral Decline

See this article here.

Another sign of our moral decline. Judges have once again shown their bias against the idea of absolute truth. The decision was pure nonsense. You don't pervert justice because a juror just happens to believe there is a higher law than themselves! Our modern-day Pontius Pilates are at it once again (see John 18:38).

As James White comments on his blog, Psalm 82 really has application here:

1 God takes His stand in His own congregation;
He judges in the midst of the rulers.
2 How long will you judge unjustly
And show partiality to the wicked? Selah.
3 Vindicate the weak and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and needy;
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They do not know nor do they understand;
They walk about in darkness;
All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I said, "You are gods,
And all of you are sons of the Most High.
7 "Nevertheless you will die like men
And fall like any one of the princes."
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth!
For it is You who possesses all the nations.

Some other verses to ponder:

Proverbs 28
4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
But those who keep the law strive with them.
5 Evil men do not understand justice,
But those who seek the LORD understand all things.

I found Ecclesiastes 5:8 reassuring:
8 If you see oppression of the poor and denial of justice and righteousness in the province, do not be shocked at the sight; for one official watches over another official, and there are higher officials over them.

As frustrating as these times are, I rest in the One who is the Sovereign Judge. He will one day come to judge the living and the dead, and on that day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. And then those Colorado Supreme Court judges (along with everyone else) WILL hear the word of the Lord!
